Family Time

I need to remind myself how precious family time is. My children are not always going to be this young and eager for attention. The other night Taylor and Cooper made these posters and posted them around the house. The posters advertise "game night" They also cleared the dinner table and got out a game.

Had they asked for a game we probably would have done something quick, or told them that we would another day, but they went through so much effort.

As we were playing it was a lot of fun laughing and spending time together. These are the moments that I remember at the end of the week. Not facebook, not web serving, not shipping or doing chores. I need to cherish these special family moments.

Cooper!

I thought I would try and spotlight each kid. Today I wanted to do Cooper because he has been just a sweetheart!

He got a toy for Christmas that he has enjoyed and he told me he really wanted to buy one for Taylor and one for Mason. He started doing some chores around the house today to turn money to purchase the toys. When I picked him up from school today, he saved one of the candies that he got from the teacher for Mason. He said it was for Mason because he feels bad that he hasn't earned enough money to buy him that toy yet.

Here is a quote from an email I got today from Cooper's teacher: "Cooper is such a cute kid! His often very energetic responses make me laugh."

Cooper loves learning. I is constantly asking questions about how things work. He loves to read. Each night he reads scriptures in his bed. He instigated it. He asked me if he could have his on scriptures to read. Most nights when I go in to tuck him in, he is totally involved in his scripture reading. In fact, he has a had a few panicky moments when he can't find his scriptures.

Cooper plays nicely and treats others so well. I am so blessed to have such a handsome, smart, fun, kind, and special little guy to me my son.

Puppies!

Laverne had puppies! They are 4 weeks old today. 2 more weeks of keeping these pups. It has been an exciting adventure. The night laverne was in labor, I walked past Taylor's room and heard squeaking. I was too nervous to go into the room by myself, so I rushed down stairs and got Jason. We went into together. These was laverne, and a slimy pup, and some messy spots on taylor's carpet :( We heard squeaking coming from somewhere in the room, so Jason and I went hunting. Jason found a pup under one of taylor's skirts still in it's sack. We took the sack off and cut the cord. Yay, we saved it!
This was around 10:30pm, and by 3am Laverne had all 8 pups. They all are healthy and doing well!
The kids love them and have named each of them (biggy, chocolate bar, miniature, yonyo, yonyo junior, zoe, Michael Jackson, and dude).
My house is very stinky and there are a lot of flies. I will be happy when we can give the puppies away, but it has been lots of fun!

Pillow Pet

Mason has been wanting a pillow met for quite some time. I think he must have seen a commercial for them. A few weeks ago when I had him in the jogger during my run, he told that we need to go the the store and buy him some pop tarts and a pillow pet.

Well, Jason took him to the store this week, and couldn't resist buying him one. Mason had fallen asleep in the car and was kind of groggy at the store. When they past the pillow pets, Jason said his face just lit up so big, and Jason just HAD to buy him one. http://www.blogger.com/

Wallsburg

The YW board had a party for families of those serving on the board. It was in Wallsburg at sister Ashton's property. My family had a blast! We were sad that Jason couldn't make it (he was running the rivalry relay). But we are glad that we got to spend the day with Grandma, Grandpa, cousins and nice families. My kids loved it so much. They want to go back.
The property had a couple zip lines, a man made lake with paddle boats, and a floating dock. There was a huge playground, barn with activities, lots of sports games, and giant slip and slide and so much more.

We are very grateful for the fun invite!

My Baby Bauer is 1!

We had a fun birthday party for little Bauer. Lot's of cousins and family came to celebrate! We did some party games, and set up the waterslide. We also ate lots and lots of pizza.

I love my baby! He has been such a joy. He loves to cuddle, laugh, play toys, and show off his cool "standing" tricks to anyone who will watch. He is such a happy buy! One of his favorite things to do is "bonk headies" with Grandpa Robison. Bauer loves to play in water, and he loves to be sneaky and grab my cell phone or a remote whenever he gets the chance.

His first words are: dad, baba, and gog (dog).

Cooper's Trafalga Birthday

Cooper had a great birthday! He is now our sweet 5 year old boy. He has waiter so long for his birthday. For about 4 or 5 months before his birthday he kept asking me "how many more days until my birthday?" Well the day arrived, and my 5 year old had a blast! Cooper was allowed to invite one friend to take to Trafalga. He invited his very best friend, Jacob! They played lots and lots of laser tag. Afterwards we came home for Cooper'd birthday dinner request: hawaiian haystacks, limeade,and icecream cake. Here are some pics of our fun day!

Mason's Pirate Birthday Party

For Mason's party, we did a "pirate theme" - of course. We took him to Pirate Island. He has a blast! The next day (Sunday) we did a combined birthday dinner for my dad and mason.
Mason's favorite present was his $5 plastic pirate sword.

Bauer is Born!

Bauer was arrived! It has been a very eventful week. On Sunday I bent over to pick up some crayons at church, and hurt my knee. I couldn’t walk on it. I went to the hospital. The couldn’t do any xrays or anything because of my pregnancy. They gave me a brace and some crutches. I decided that I better beg my doctor to induce me (I had an appointment the next day), because I needed Jason home and I wanted to recover from both things at once. On Monday I went to my parents house, and my mom helped with the kids so that I could recover. She also went with me to my doc appointment so she could be with the kids in the waiting room. The doctor agreed to induce me the next day. So it was set. I was to be at the hospital at 6am the next morning. I didn’t sleep very well that night, and I had to hobble (left my crutches upstairs) to go to the bathroom at night. In the morning, we checked in, the nurses checked me (I was at a 3), and gave me pitosen. The pitosen started working pretty fast. About 1.5 hours later, I was ready for and anxious for my epidural. The nurse came in and explained that I wouldn’t be able to get an epidural because of my blood levels. SCARY!! It was already starting to hurt, and I have never prepared myself for natural birth. They upped the pit level and things were starting to get painful. My mom rushed over to be with me and coach me through it. Jason held my hand for comfort. It was very nice being able to hear my mom’s comforting voice, and having my loving husband next to me. The nurses gave me a very strange drug (that I would not recommend). It made me dizzy, and sooo hot and flushed. I felt so loopy and out of it. The only good thing about it, was that before the pain became too severe, I was able to sleep between contractions.
I short while later I felt like I really had to go to the bathroom. The nurses helped me up, I felt so dizzy and yucky, and wasn’t able to go the bathroom. The checked, me and were shocked to see that I was all the way dilated and ready to push. The only problem was that the doctor was not there. He has at another hospital in another delivery. A bunch of nurses came in and got things ready I was so ready to end the pain, that I didn’t care to wait for the doctor. Luckily the doctor was able to rush over in time. The head still was up a bit, and facing the wrong way. The doctor didn’t tell me this at the time because he didn’t want to scare me. It took some incredibly painful pushing, and horrible back pain. It is hard to describe this feeling of pain, and not knowing when it will end. It was a little bit of a relief when I could push and not feel the contractions so much. I pushed so hard a few times and finally started feeling the baby come out. It was the biggest relief ever when the babies head came out. I instantly felt better, and was so ready to rest. I felt so relaxed (even has the doctor was stitching me up). It as just good to know that it was over! Bauer is soooo adorable. He was only 7 pounds 11 ounces. He hasn’t cried too much. He was instantly a good nurser.
I felt so blessed during this whole thing, and that my Heavenly Father was with me. It is such a comfort to know we can pray and receive priesthood blessings. I know I was being watched over. My knee also feels so much better!
I am so grateful to have his precious baby in my life. I am also incredibly grateful for all the family support I have.

Disneyland!!!

We went to disneyland to celebrate Taylor and Cooper's birthday. It was a great trip! We stayed in one of Rod's timeshare condos close to the parks. I think the kids enjoyed the condo more than they did Disneyland. They LOVED swimming every day.
It was fun to watch them at Disney. Cooper really enjoyed the adventure rides. Mason's favorite ride (by far) was the Pirates of the Carri bean. When it ended, he would say "again, again!" Now that the trip is over he constantly watches the pirates ride on youtube.
We also did seaworld, and universal studios. It was lots of fun to see the shows at seaworld. I thought the pet show at see world was great. Taylor's favorite one was the sea otters show.
They also loved the hands on, where they were able to touch the star fish, and sting rays.

I stole some fun pictures from Karenin, of our family Valentines party. It was lots of fun!! We did a progressive dinner, where each family had a room, and a course. Jason and I did "high tea sandwiches", Lisa and Justin did a two-color soup, my parents did the main course, and Jeremy and Karenin did dessert. First of course, we needed to feed the kids. Lisa and Justin hired a babysitter for the kids while they watched a movie.
For my parents course, we were not allowed to feed ourselves, we had to be fed by our date.

We had a great Christmas!!! The kids loved every minute of it!! On Christmas Eve, they got to open some fun pajamas. We had pizza and went for a fun light drive.
The very sad news of Christmas is that Zero (Jason's parent's dog) passed away on Christmas eve. This happend after we went home and put the kids to bed. She will be missed!!

We had a really fun Halloween this year. It was cute to watch how excited the kids were. Taylor loved dressing up and parading around at school.

Cooper's Heart

Cooper had his heart surgery with week, and it went perfectly!! Cooper was born with aortic stenosis. The stenosis caused pressure in his heart. Also one of the arteries in his heart is enlarged. When he was born he went to primary children's and had several tests and echos. After a year the doctors saw no changes (good sign) so we weren't expecting anything to go wrong.
In the past few months Jason and I have been noticing that his energy level is way down. He also has been sleeping tons. He took him to the doctor for another echo and she said that they needed to do surgery. It wasn't open heart surgery (good news!) but they did need to make an incision in his leg/groin area and use a catheter to go an balloon his valve to stretch it out.
We have been pretty nervous, but since we found out he needed surgery, we have been saying lots of prayers. He also got a priesthood blessing and several people were fasting for him. Thanks to all the prayers and the Lord's help, everything went perfectly!!!

When we arrived at the hospital they told us that one of the main risks was that this procedure would cause his valve to leak blood. They said it is really common, and almost always happens a little bit. The more you need to do this procedure, the more it will leak, until finally he would need a replacement valve. So we were pretty concerned about that.

Before they got things started, they have Cooper a really cool wooden train. They said it was handmade by one of the doctors.

One of my big worries was having Cooper get the IV. Good news! They put him to sleep first, then gave him the IV. They also gave him some medicine to help with anxiety. As soon as he got the medicine he was pretty loopy and very happy. He didn't care that we had to say goodbye to him before he was even asleep (that is what made me cry; I wanted to be there at least until he fell asleep).

We had to wait a VERY long 2.5 hours and then they paged us back. The doctor showed us a bunch of cool pictures of the procedure. They actually tried to balloon it with the regular size balloon and it didn't stretch, so they did it with a larger balloon and it stretched perfectly. He said that there was no leaking (something that he said never happens) and he reduced the gradient level from 80 (anything 50 or higher is bad) to 20. He said the procedure went perfectly!

We got to go upstairs and see Cooper, and he was pretty out of it. It took him a couple hours before he wanted to really talk to us. He didn't remember anything about the experience (including them putting him to sleep). He didn't cry and became pretty content and happy. The nurses kept asking him if he was hurting and he said no (he hasn't had any pain meds including Tylenol since the procedure). He had a pretty big incision, so he needed to stay overnight so they could make sure it didn't start bleeding. We watched lots of TV in the room, and Cooper became more alert as the night went on. We made him a gift basket, and put a gumball machine, a toy, some candy, a psp game and some movies in it. He loved the gumball machine. He asked if he could sleep with it (like a teddy bear). As the night went on you could tell he was recovering more and more. At one point he said "mom, I am hyper". He didn't fall asleep until after 11pm. I got to sleep in the hospital bed with him. The nurses came in and out throughout the night to check vitals and then we woke up a 6am for x-rays. He was a little grouchy waking up because the lack of sleep.
We met with the doctors in the morning, and they told us everything looked great! They told me that he has to stay down today, but tomorrow he can do his normal activities!
Putting him to bed tonight he was pretty hyper. I wonder if I am already noticing changes in the way he feels with his new and improved heart!
I love my Cooper, and I know that he was definitely being looked after throughout this whole procedure!

FHE Lesson - King Benjamin

Jason did a fun FHE lesson for the kids today. He set up a big tent/fort, and also a "tower". He talked about King Benjamin, and had me stand on the tower and read them a few verse of King Benjamin's verses on Service.

These Chinese people are so nice, and great to work with, but sometimes the language can be a huge barrier and we it takes lots of tries before we get what we want. We are working on doing a sleep sac, and today I got my sample in the mail today (suppose to be for an infant 6-12 months).

We had lunch, they did a little program, watched a photo montage, did a pinata and then we scrapbooked with some pictures they had collected of each kid. Great school!

Several weeks ago Taylor saw a man in sacrament meeting who was baulding and had a really shiney forhead/head. She was so impressed with how shiney he was and thought this man was beautiful. She told me that I should make my head look as shiney as his.

Anyway, it has been weeks, and she must still think about him. As I was tucking her in I told her that tomorrow we need to give her a really good bath because she is dirty. She told me that she wanted to be shiney like the man from church.

They had a bunch of fun activities going on for their Grand Opening. They got her face painted. Cooper said no to face painting. He is funny, he never wants his face painted and he hates stickers.

Friends of all ages

It doesn't matter how old you are in our neighbourhood. Everyone is friends with everyone. I got a kick out of watching Cooper yesterday with his "new friend". He was this nice little boy around Rachel or Julia's age. He followed Cooper around for a good chunk of the afternoon. He was helping him ride his truck. He also asked if he could see Cooper's room. When he saw the star wars stuff, he said that he was going to get Cooper a star wars video game for his birthday. Funny

Also, yesterday Cooper bought a Yahtzee game at a yard sale. He was so excited about it (he loves dice). It was funny because I saw Cooper go in the house, get the game, and then walk it across the street to where there were a bunch of kids. Within a few seconds, Cooper was sitting in a circle with a bunch of older kids playing yahtzee. I tried to take a picture, but my Camera battery was dead.

Cooper's Bike Riding

Cooper LOVES his bike. He spends the majority of his day riding it. He has memorized what the stickers on the bike say, and what each part of the bike does. He is pretty intense.

Spring time in Eagle Mountain

We love Eagle Mountain in the spring. There are kids out everywhere! Yesterday they did a fire with smores at the neighbours house. There are kids riding bikes up and down the street constantly. I even found a few teenage girls on our play stucture with with their blankets draped over. Weird, but it just shows that everyone is friendly and comfortable around each other.

The kids had a great Easter this year. It was so cute to see them help each other find eggs. The candy egg hunt was fun, but they day before I think they had just as much fun with Taylor hiding the colored eggs around the yard and Cooper finding them.

On Friday Jason gave the kids a great lesson on what Easter means. I made some Easter Jello Jigglers for the treat.

Independant Cooper

Cooper is soo independant lately. He wants to do everything all by himself like a big boy. He will not let me buckle him. When he goes potty, he shuts the door and does not want me to help him. Today we took him to the doctors office. It was so cute to see what a big boy he was. He did everything the doctor asked, and then they did a nebulizer breathing treatment on him and he sat so still and held it himself right up to his nostrils. He did that for over 5 minutes until the treatment was done.

I have been slightly concerned about him lately. She is showing a few signs of his heart weakening. Last night he was moaning and tossing and turning in the night. I brought him in my bed and I could hear his breathing sound pretty strained. I instantly though that it was a sickness or his heart was having problems. I made a doc appointment in the morning and brought him in and it turns out that it was his asthma. He was having an asthma attack. I can't beleive that I TOTALLY forgot that Cooper has asthma. It never occured to me to get out the nebulizer. Yikes!

The kids were listening to baby songs in the car, and there was a song about shapes and body parts (example - head circle, arm rectangle etc..). Anyway from the back seat in a very serious, not joking voice, taylor shouted, "I know, a penis is a circle".

Cooper got a haircut

Cooper got a haircut (I will post a pic soon). Anyway when I told taylor that she needs to go look at Cooper because he has a new haircut, she asked me if his voice has changed too.

I think Taylor really likes it. She kept asking him to look at her so that she can see it again. Today she told him that she is so sorry that she cannot marry him because "you can't marry your brother".

Mason Turns 1

Mason had a great bday today. I also thought I would never get him off breastfeeding, and surprise surprise he started taking the bottle just fine about 2 days ago and today he did perfectly! Hurray for Mason.

The coolest thing that happened for his birthday was that he learned the work "stinky". So so so funny. He was on my lap and passed gas and then smiled and said "stinky". I laughed so hard. Then it happened again, and he said "stinky" again. I am so proud of my little boy.

For his birthday he got a wagon (thank-you Grandma Grandpa mission). I think Taylor and Cooper love it just as much as he does. We went on a fun walk to the park in it, and everyone was fighting over turns (including some neighbourhood kids). He also got a really cool train that shoots ball out, and a gift card to GAP (thanks Grandma Grandpa Moyer).

We had a great day. We went out for lunch, played at the house, and tomorrow we are going to see a 3D movie.

Our actual moving date is next on Saturday, but we have been going over to our new house to paint and get things ready. Taylor has been a little hesitant to move. She says she will miss her friends. The other day she woke up and told me she had been crying in her bed because she will miss her preschool and primary.

We stopped by the new house yesterday to visit Jason who was painting. It was like a picture perfect neighbourhood. There were kids running up and down the street, and our neighbour stopped by to introduce himself. He has a 3 year old son, a 5 year old daughter, an 11 year old, and a 14 year old who babysit. The house across from us lives twin 3 year old boys. Best of all, a kitty came over to welcome Taylor and Cooper. This is the friendliest kitty I have ever seen. It came right up to Taylor and Cooper. It kissed cooper and layed her head on his lap.

Discovery Children's Museum - Possible Fieldtrip for Gramps Camp?

I took the kids to the Discover Museum at Gateway yesterday. My friend has a seasons pass there and she brought as her her "guests" for free. I heard that it was a great museum, but it totally surpassed my expectations. It was perfect for the kids. I would say that a place like that is just as entertaining as disneyland.
Cooper was so involved with the activities. Each time we would need to move on to something else, Cooper would throw a huge fit and I would need to drag him to the next place. He has only seen and played with about 30% of the museum because we gets so into the particular activity he is playing with.
There are really neat activities for older kids, but we did the stuff for the young kids. Here are some of the things you can do:
Grocery shop (they have a cute little market area with grocery baskets and a register)
Construction zone (you can work a fork lift and build things with big sponge blocks)
Tubes and Balls (a huge room with these sucking tubes you can put balls and stuff in- hard to describe but really need)
Wind Tunnels
A stage and costumes for plays
Climbing walls
A helicopter that they can ride (the helecoptor will move and vibrate to give you the feeling you are flying. There can be someone else in a control center who can talk to the pilot).

Taylor was telling Jason last night that her teacher is single, and that she lives all alone. She said that her other teacher lives with a mermaid, she thinks.

At lunch Taylor was asking how she will recognize Pooper when he is a daddy.

She for some time has really wanted to marry Pooper. We have told her again and again that she cannot marry her brother. She has finally found a boy in our ward (named Christian) who she has decided to marry.

Family Home Evening Guitar Hero

Today for our FHE activity, we had a guitar hero concert. Taylor was very excited! She picked out everyone's wardrobe. She had me wear a fancy dress, and and some tall shoes. I also had my pony tail in, and she said that she was in charge and she wanted me to wear my hair down. She told me that I was the flute player and gave me a hairbow to use as a flute.

Jason also had to dress up "fancy". Cooper was the only one she couldn't persuade.

Taylor loves to perform. She asked me if we can paint Grandpa's deck sparkly blue and pink with princes and princesses on it so that we can have big shows for our band.

Christmas

We have had such a fun Christmas! For Christmas eve, we went to Jason's parents house. The kids decorated Christmas cookies, then we read the Christmas story as Taylor performed. she needed a Joseph, and the only taker was Mason, so Mason was our Joseph.

We went for a light drive, then brought the kiddies home so they could open their pjs, and get ready for Santa. Jason also decorated their bunk bed in Christmas lights.

Christmas morning was a blast! They were sooo excited to see the pile of presents and they loved every one of them.

Mason now has 2 teeth on the bottom and 2 teeth on the top. This picture is a little old, his front teeth totally through.

Mason has bit me while nursing a few different times. It totally catches me off guard and totally HURTS. So I am not sure how much longer this kid will get to nurse.

Also, speaking of Mason, today he discovered "baby songs". He has tried "baby einstein", but that didn't even come close to "baby songs", while he was happily watching and singing along I sewing an entire blanket for cooper (thomas the train fabric he picked out yesterday), and took a shower.

Taylor and Cooper definately have a love/hate relationship. They fight constantly, but they ar also best buds. Taylor will yell at the top of her lungs "YOU BUG ME COOPER" and she doesn't ever want him to sit next to her at dinner.
However, Taylor insists that her and Pooper are going to get married. I try to explain to her that you can't marry your brother but she yells "NO MOM, WHEN WE ARE OLDER, WHEN COOPER IS A DADDY"

Last night Jason and I watched "Step Brothers" (edited on clearplay). We put a movie on for hte kids in our room, and I went in to check on them and they were sitting in the same chair like best buds. Also, yesterday when Cooper and I were leaving, Taylor hugged us each and said buy I love you to both me and cooper. Cooper asked her for a kiss, but Taylor explained that she couldn't because she didn't want to get him sick (Taylor has pink eye).

Fish Tank

We are very sorry Justin and Lisa. We had to say goodbye to your fish yesterday. The kids have really enjoyed having the tank in the room, and it has been so much fun until last night.
I left a big container of fish food and a big container of frog food by the fish tank.

I went in to check on the kids at 11pm and thought they were asleep. Taylor was asleep, but Cooper had decided to stay up and feed the fish. When I walked in, he was standing next to the fish tank, very proud that he had fed them. He dumped the entire bottle of fish and frog food in the tank.

The next morning we noticed that there were some survivors, but they by the afternoon most of them were gone. We had gone grocery shopping, in the afternoon and came home to the house smelling like poo. We thought maybe we left a stinky diaper around, but walked in the kids room and the smell was soooo strong. Apparently, if dump an entire bottle of fish food in a tank it will smell just like poo the next day.

Tonight we decorated the house for Christmas. The kids had a blast. They loved hanging the ornaments on the try. Cooper calls ornaments "deodorants". We had the Christmas music on (106.5 - Delila), and when we were done, we had some yummy frozen hot chocolate.

I am so excited for Christmas this year because our kids are old enough to really appreciate the festivities. Yesterday we went to gateway, and they loves the Christmas lights. We will take them to the lights on temple square in a couple weeks too.
Cooper especially loves Christmas lights. When we pass a house with Christmas lights on, he gets very excited.

Mason 8 months

Mason is a happy 8 month old. He sits, up and rolls around, but does not crawl yet. He loves people! He gets so excited to have someone to play with. He makes very cute happy sounds - kind of sounds like a weird animal. He loves to laugh and he's very ticklish. He can't wait to meet his Mission Grandparents.

The Happiest Place on Earth

We had a great disney vacation!!!! The kids had a blast (well except for Mason). It was a little difficult sharing one hotel room with all of the kiddies. Mason had a lot of difficulty falling asleep with everyone in the room, and he also got everyone up very early in the morning.

We loved our hotel though. We stayed at Disney's Paradise Pier (across the street from California Adventure). My favorite part about the hotel was the pool area. It was never crowded, and the kids loved it! There was a big water slide that both Taylor and Cooper could do all by themselves. There was a kiddy pool, a regular size pool, and a nice hot tub. A couple of nights we watched the Disney fireworks from the hot tub (pefect view). They had a bunch of life jackets at the pool. Taylor would put one on and jump right in to the deep end and swim where she needed to go. By the last day, Taylor was swimming short distances all by herself without the life jacket.

The kids loved the parade and meeting the disney characters. Cooper loved it when he was tall enough for a ride (he would keep saying "Cooper Tall Enough"). Taylor says her favorite ride was the Pinoccio ride (she says she wants to have a pinoccio birthday party.

Taylor was soooo social on the trip. She would speak with everyone in line and anyone near her at the park. She made tons of friends (both young and old). She would ask them about themselves, and tell them all about her and her family. She would always ask them if they wanted to touch our baby Mason. She would say that she has another brother but she can't say his name, so you will have to ask my mom what it is. She would tell them that it sounds like pooper, but it starts with a "C".

Cooper did great, and wasn't afraid of any of the rides he went on. He also loved hugging the princesses and participating in everything. He hated holding me hand, and ran off a couple off times, but fortunately he never got lost.

Mason is not the right kind of baby for Disneyland. He usually has to be in his crib to fall asleep, and so his nap schedules were way off. He was cranky for most of the trip. He spent a lot of time in the baby backpack carrier.

It was a fun trip overall, and Jason and I are so happy that were could do that with the kids.
